Inspired by a shot I saw in "PHOTO" magazine that really stuck with me a while back.

Lits of NeatImage for this one to really get a plastic feel to the skin.

*Critique CLub*

The colors are interesting but I have a big problem with the lips themselves. For being the main focus of the image they are very soft and the focus just isn't there. Part of it could be the lipstick bleeding but if you are going to do a photo so concentrated on a pair of lips make sure your model has lip liner on to stop the lipstick bleeding.

You stated you used lots of neatimage to get the plastic look to it, it just doesn't work for me. The purpose for plastic surgery and collogen injections is not to look like plastic it is to look real without imprefections.

I can't stop being distracted by the right side of the mouth even though your focus is to the left top, the right bottom is so out of focus and bright it takes all the attention from the needle and upperlip.

As for meeting the challenge, doesn't to me. Had there been a drop of liquid even if it was water or cooking oil visible from around the needle then it would but without the title all it is is a photo of vanity.

Wow, Interesting picture! I See your Point! After the collagen I think she should get her teeth bleached.

Er, eww. On-topic, yeah. Interesting expression. Skin tone very bright, lighting too bright overall I think. However those things with colours contrast which helps a bit.

This is very unappealing. You have the clarity and light etc. but a needle in a lip is just not a photo I would like..

YUCK! This freaks me out!!! But you captured it well, and it sure meets the challenge. It's quite effective.

Ouch! Nice catch.

Nice shot - well composed and the colors draw interest. I find this one disturbs me greatly; it's very powerful.

A well executed shot, a little creepy and somewhat blown out, but okay. 6

OUCH!

Good idea, and nice execution of it.

I'm not sure what the message is here but this photo really had an emotional impact on me. It's kind of gross and drained the blood out of me but I like the way you've isolated the lips with a very narrow DOF. I also like the pale colors of the face. Is this really an injection of some kind? It looks so real I'm wondering where the drop of blood is? Very effective!

Nice shot. Good concept.

Ouch... this can't be real?! Great skin tones you've captured. Good saturation and lighting. Border works well here. How did you get everything other than the syringe and lips so blurred? 9

Yow! What an unpleasant concept! I don't really care for the lighting in this photo - it's not very attractive. But then again, the idea of pumping one's lips full of stuff is not an attractive idea, and does not always yield attractive results.

Ouch

very interesting idea

I dont know what you did but the face of this person looks like it was softened in an editing program after the fact. I'm sorry but I dont like the effect of it.

Ouch

did you illegally spot edit this?

here's where my phobia of needles kicks in again...

Yuck! Nice image, though.

This one works for me - especially the upturned lip emphasising the sense of disgust at cosmetic surgery. However, the marks on the chin and the general fuzziness of the image bother me a little.

Yikes! Damn that is painful to look at... makes for an interesting subject.

The flesh looks all blurred out. That is my main problem with this shot. Otherwise I like the idea.

Excellent idea and message. Picture seems a little washed out in areas though, not sure if this was done intentionally? Also, there are blotches on the chin and jawline. Excellent pic

this makes for an emotional image. the lighting is harsh, yet I like it because it goes with the mood of the photo.
