Okay-- I'm brand new to this Critique Club-- Your my First!!
So Greatings..
I personally thinks this meets challenge, with the open arms and the child coming up from the ground..
Your Focus is right where it should be, dead solid on her face.
Even with your shutter speed of 1/320 it still shows movement without making the picture blurry..
This is hard for my first crituque because I think the voters got it wrong..
If you had to do it again, I guess get lower to emphashize more of a up from ground feel..
Post Processing is also very good..
DPC voters are very critical and I suppose since you weren't laying on the ground, they didn't think it fit the challenge, but IMO it did, and its a great photo.. |

Beautiful shot. I'm sure this one will be framed and displayed proudly. |

this is lovely, don't see ground up relation though - perhaps the little girl is running into her open arms and then lifted up from the ground? |

Touching photo. Had to think a second to relate it to challenge. Was worth it. |

I really like the smile on the woman's face - it shows a true joy towards the oncoming girl. I don't get as great a sense of "from the ground up" as other photos, but I really like the overall treatment. |

Frankly, the first time I saw this photograph, I thought that although it was a very nice candid, it failed to meet the challenge. On second thought, however, I realized that it did meet the challenge, if not in a physical sense, indeed in a philosophical sense; from the ground up, from a child to an adult, etc. I don't know whether or not that's actually what you have intended to convey, but I guess that's irrelevant; I've seen what I needed to see, and that's all that matters. Not much to say about the technical side of the image; composition, exposure, sharpness and post-processing all look very good. Of course, one might nitpick and say that the treeline should have been placed higher so as not to be cut by the bride's head, and the bride's face, especially her eyes, should've had more detail/light (which could be fixed with spot editing anyway, if this were not a basic editing challenge), etc. But I think that in this photograph, none of that really matters...Long story short, good work! |

This is a good picture, but I don't get any feeling of shooting from the ground up. |

This is a wonderful image of joy and happiness. I like the coloration job you've done with it. My only complaint is I'm not seeing the connection to the challenge with the camera angle (level instead of ground up) and approach you've taken. You've made some connection I cannot see or feel. Regardless, I'm sure this will make a nice addition as a family image to cherish forever. Good luck in the challenge. |

I'm sorry, I don't see what you were going for here... |

I understand the play on words here (at least I think I do) but IMO it subverts the intent of the challenge and therefore does not fit said challenge. Great photo though. |
