My six year old daughter was the greatest model, it was a beautiful day with her singing to her bear while I took this shot. It,s a great memory we will have together. When we were finished the shots she dropped the cake in the grass! The party was over.

Greetings from the Critique Club Laurie:

Very nice photo. I like the lighting as it adds a mood to the photo, I also like how the lighting works with the whites in the photo. The composition, pose, and set up is dead on as well. The chair, flowers, cake, all great. The little girl being bare foot and having her leg up like thatâ€Â¦ perfect.
Why did it score a 5.3? I think the photo is stuck in that grey area where it is not sharp, but not soft focus. I think this photo would work great either way, but here you are kind of in the middle. Do you sharpen your photo after you re-size it? If not, that is the problem.
I̢۪m not a fan of the background either. It̢۪s a nice contrast with the whites, but I think maybe the same green field with a blue sky background and maybe a lone tree would be better. The darkness and all the details of the background kind of make it a little too busy. A shallow DOF may help get rid of that as well.
Also, kind of nit picky, but the table cloth being more even might have worked better.

Great job and good luck on future challenges.

This is a really cute setup, wish the sun hadn't been so bright when you shot this.

I love this picture it has captured a little girl in a moment of real life The follage in the back ground and the long grass is a little distacting but still a great picture.
Good luck in the challenge. 10

OH my! This is definitely birthday card material, no question. Better start googling greeting card companies!

IMHO there's too much going on in this picture. I'd have cropped it in on the girl and the teddy bear. Also, the table cloth needs to be centered better. One side is hanging off too much.

Cute! Great setup - love the tall grass and all the fixins. If I had to pick on one thing it would be the overhang on the tablecloth would look better level. Picky, I know. Great job!
