beautiful image. my guess is that this is a great example of being victimized by speed-voting, where a large majority of voters don't take the time to try to connect with the image.
this is also a great example of the artist rendering their vision, vs the artist playing to the masses. i imagine that significant cropping off the left and bottom would have made a full point's difference in the voting, but i also imagine that is not what was intended here.
as is, though, this will fall into the stack of images that will be enjoyed by the lucky few who bother to seek images out--which is too bad for those who chose to fly right by it. |

| I really like the feel of this one coming out of the dark, and going into a bright sunny day. Composition is great this shot takes my eyes through the photograph. |

| This reminds me of the light at the end of the tunnel. In a hospital setting "going to the light" has a bad meaning. For me there is just too much black. |
