I think you've captured a great moment. I really like the composition. I have to agree with the majority about the blue thing though. I think I understand the "feel" you're going for, but I'd like to see it natural. It might then look like another animal shot, but I think a great animal shot is...a great animal shot. :-)

I'm not sure about the blue either. That said, the crop and framing are tremendous. I can almost see him jumping out of the water while barking, and creating a huge "noisy" splash.

This guy looks like he's singing! I like the composition and the cropping but I would have liked a smoother, less noisy look to the shot. I don't think the blue adds anything to it, but I'd have to see it will different options really to tell for sure.

It sure is a cute shot.

I like the blue hue to this photo, I think it makes the photo standout
I think it would just be another good animal shot if the coloring was left std as the inside of the mouth would distract from the great cropping used here

There's a tad of a blue cast on my monitor. I'd like to see more of the sea lion. I can definitely hear him, though. Good take on that challenge. :o)

Really cute shot, Steve. I like the comp. I also agree that losing the blue cast would improve this shot. I might even clone out that light line in the bg, from the seal's eye to the right edge of the shot. Nice work, though.

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB!

Well, I wish I had more to say about this picture....

Its great. I like the crop choice. The detail looks sufficient, maybe a bit obscured by the darkness in the shadows. A lot of others have commented about the blue cast and I think they're right, it detracted from the photo. Im guessing your score would have easily gone up a whole point if this wasn't the first thing to hit many a viewers brain.

I'm not sure why you chose this color, but I love the composition and cropping. Great timing, too. Super photo!

Nice composition and color choice. Gives a very sea lion feel. You can almost hear that loud bark filling the space around the head.

I know how noisy these critters can be (my local zoo has some). Your choice of composition works well. (Can you select white balance? The color seems to be a bit off..... on my monitor.)

I think it needs more contrast instead of the bluish cast.

This photo captures something... something emotion. I can't even put the words together. It's an awesome shot

This image seems to stand well on it's own... I don't like the title :) excellent shot tho..

Title aside, this doesn't really scream 'sound' to me, although I can sort of see it as on topic. This looks very strange, overly blue -- is it tinted? Also the framing seems off -- either too much negative space or possibly not enough.

he looks like a statue! if he was spitting water he'd be a fountain! Very nice capture. I took some sea lion photos recently but was never able to get this close.
