This is a kite a man was flying in the Summer Palace.

Post script:
This was taken against the sun in mid-afternoon, and it turned out almost exactly like this. I did a little contrast/curves edit, and boosted the orange a little.

I have some outtakes I'll put up when I get the chance, they all look more like I expected. I really have no idea why this turned out like it did, except that the kite may have obscured the brightest part of the sun and prevented the small aperture from creating the 'star' effect.

Amazing and magical...I can almost see it moving...this has an almost aquatic feel to it...like one of those strange and wonderous creatures from the deep deep sea.

Fantastic job keeping the kite exposed. The hugely underexposed sky is great. Very cool idea. 9

I think the picture would have more impact if he subject were in the crossing of the right upper third with the head of the kite at the crossing. 6

Seems rather odd. Looks like a kite being flown at night.

Oh what a great title. This is very interesting. The use of negative space is great. I like the vivid colors of the kite as well. The light (sun?) bothers me for some reason. I can't put my finger on it quite exactly. Hmmmm - I'm going to think about it and come back.
