 Taken handheld at 17mm with a polarizer. I had this location in mind for this challenge all along since I spent the week in Akureyri I only had to drive about 100km (as opposed to 500km from Reykjavik). Originally I was going to have a car driving along the road but there was almost no traffic and during the 15 or so minutes that I stood there only one car drove by in the correct direction and it was both blurred from motion (wich was intentional as I thought it might look cool but wasn´t) and it was an ugly modern SUV that didn´t fit with the theme of the shot. As it was freezing and I wasn´t dressed for it I just got the hell out of there and ended up using this shot that was actually shot to meter the whole scene by histogram. Hope you like it, at least I do even though I am not 100% satisfied. Afterwards I regret not setting up my tripod with a timer and walking down the road, I think the image would be a lot better that way.

PP was cropping to 2:1 ratio, cloned out or used healing brush to remove poles by the side of the road, on just the sky I did a seperate curves and colour balance adjustment (colour set to a slightly more blue hue) curves again on the whole picture, some dodging off the road and slight burning on the skies and finally sharpened after resizing.

I was going to edit this in another way and this is how I wanted to enter it but I wasn´t sure it was legal so I didn´t take the chance.

Two similar photos with a similar score from the same country. One from close to the west end other from way north and east. I still like mine better :)
