this is my 5-month old daughter just a fraction away from falling asleep. She smiles ALL the time ... I decided to use a non-smiling image as to not distract from the bubble subject -- and because this is when she was very cooperative (91% asleep). Used 50mm with f1.4 for very shallow DOF ... I made minor adjustments to color balance, sharpened, and cropped. As usual there was luck involved -- the bubbly reflections in the eyes!

I was going to say that I'm amazed that this didn't win the Posthumous or the OOBIE (or the Metatate)but I guess it was entered before they were given out. This is a very creative shot that slipped through the DPC cracks. Creative shots have a reputation for finding the cracks. Although you did all you could to explain yourself in the title, it seems most people missed the bokeh part. Great shot.

The eye bubbles didn't stand a chance. We have the dribble in immaculate focus! Plus you went to an extreme to make this difference by shooting F1.4. I like the image but the bubbles, especially from the mouth don't mean the same thing for me, as for you. ;)
I assume that you shot a version with the eyes in perfect focus and the reflections of bubbles there suffered. If not, you missed the shot you were looking for. It sure looks like she is in an altered state. One might even say meditating. :) Cute baby.

Man, I really thought the bubbles in the eyes would get a better reaction! ... I'm pretty sure no one will ever read this so here goes ... this photo rules!: focus, bokeh, blur, illusion, beauty, a captured moment, detail, fit the challenge ... Thanks for the 6-10 scores .. those were correct ... especially the 10's!!!!

falling out of focus, yes very true.
in any photo of a face, the eyes are critical, so they must be in focus.

Love the shot - not mad about the title - a bit too wordy for my taste. Those baby bubbles are darling. Love the sweet expression of innocence. It seems just slightly out of focus to me but the overall composition is good.

What a cute little drooler! There's bubbles in the baby's eyes too!
