I really like the colors, lighting and composition. This is one photo that the title really helps, in relation to the challenge theme. After reading your post-challenge notes, I like the shot even more. |

Beautiful, well done shot, even if voters didn't understand it. |

Wow. Sounds like you seriously need a big hug from someone who knows what it's like to travel life's journey in loneliness. Keep your chin up and express your feelings in the ways you know how. Looks like photography is something you know pretty well.
Building confidence seems like a good way to go. Try to make it a goal. It helps you deal with the empty car and makes you more attractive to those who might want to get in the car with you... or so everyone keeps telling me...
I really liked this photo as did many others. I felt that there were a few parts of this picture that worked together particularly well, including the possibly unintentional unhappy face in the socket. Making the light burn through the one hole highlighted that it was a face without a backing. On the other hand, it did take me a second to realize that. A lot of people comment on how if it doesn't strike the reader immediately, it will be lost because people don't usually take the time to look more deeply. If this aspect of being without backing could have been emphasized a tiny bit more, perhaps you would have grabbed more votes.
I don't think the best thing that could come from this picture is getting better votes or winning a ribbon. It wouldn't change the picture, nor would it change the source.
Having so few comments on how to improve it should tell you that there is precious little to change about this picture as it stands. It reflects both your feelings and the bitterness of life, but with colours that indicate melancholy brightened. The grey in the plug points to our neutral ability or awareness of our own directions sometimes. I wonder if that was planned as I could be wrong, but I'm getting a hint of slightly warmer light from behind that appears to be setting off the grey of that plug. Further inspection allowed me to notice other details such as the alignment of the screw between the two faces. Possible meanings are tremendous in the context of this subject: no connection between two faces, inequality in sameness, decisions made for us, the fact that the two are the same, but we can still only choose one......
Be proud. 1000 words is not enough for this one.

Here's what I was thinking when I shot this:
I wanted to show the obvious-ness of some destinations - thinking that for some, based on what we are, the destination is sort of predefined. So I realized as I plugged in a computer there was only one destination for a three-pronged plug -
Then I thought some more. I just got a car that I always wanted, worked hard to get to my destination, but due to life circumstances right now, it is an empty, in fact bitter, triumph. I'll be trading it in on something else this week.
So some destinations that we work so hard to get to actually mean nothing once we are there - hence the plug that is suspended with no power - it's an empty ambition.
Comments on how I could have portrayed these thoughts are certainly welcome!

I don't get the destination? It's a great shot I like what you have done here but I fail to get it. Might just be me. My wife says I miss a lot of stuff anyway. |

I've tried very hard to find the relationship between the picture, the title and the challenge subject. It is a good study of plugs and wall sockets and would work in a catalogue or advert. |

I didn't understand this pic the first time around. Came back to see what I missed, and noticed the socket is just hanging there in mid-air. Now I understand the title more...Very well laid out shot. Good lighting too. |

I don't get the connection (no pun intended) between the picture and the title. |
