Title: Classic, by byetko
Composition: A very unusual angle on the instrument, with the leading lines developed by the strings taking the viewer to the origination of sound. Well thought out and executed.
Technical: This picture proves that you have complete control of your equipment. Focus, exposure, and post processing are all right on.
Challenge: NO guesswork is needed here, and it is a sweet sound at that.
Suggestions: I feel that you have cropped it a little too close at the top, and that the extra portion you have given to the body of the violin, makes your picture a bit heavy on the bottom. The deep shadows where the strings attach are distracting to me and I would have liked to see more detail in that area. Both of these are nit-picky on my part and are only minute imperfections. Overall you have done quite a nice job.

love your choice of duotones, and the abstract angle. The reflection of the bridge is very effective. Very well done. |

Wish the upper-left of the bridge wasn't quite so bright. |

Intriguing angle on a violin. makes it look almost like a bridge. I like the curve coming into the corner bottom right. The reflection is nice too. DOF might be a little narrow, I'd like to see what it looks like with a bit more in focus. The central point here is this piece of wood that hold up the strings, but that doesn't make me feel sound. Maybe if the strings were really illuminated - would be neat to see them in the reflection too. Nice photo. but doesn't fit the challenge so well for me. |

Very nice indeed! I love the reflection, and the lighting that allowed it. You captured the textures well. Great angle and composition. The graininess around the neck works well. 8 |

Another shot where I had to focus quite closely to figure out what it was -- a violin or similar stringed instrument, si? Because of that, I'm not fond of the image and it didn't strongly evoke 'sound' for me, although it is on topic. |

This is the best shot of an instrument I've seen so far. The reflection is great, the lighting works well, and the focus is right where it needs to be. Congratulations. 10. |
