Hello and thanks for the great votes and remarks.
I thought I would explain something to all of you, I was out on September 10th taking some really cool shots of speed boats at Liberty State Park in NJ for the perspective challenge, the location I was at was directly across the Hudson River from where the WTC once stood. This always gives me pause and a chance to reflect on things I have done and things I might have done in my life for many reasons. So I just couldn't let my desire to score high in a photo challenge overcome my desire to pay tribute to my personal loss on 9/11. This is why I shot the lights and didn't enter all those cool shots of the boats.
If you would like to read a personal story of my 9/11 you can go to //magicalmike.com/html/fr__mychal_judge.html
To watch a flash tribute to the people of NYC (which I made though only one of the images is mine the first one) go here:

So look at that, I followed my heart and ended up with the highest rated entry to DP Challenge so far. Thank you all for your votes and noticing.
BTW if you look closely, I wasn't the only one who had this idea. I counted at least 3 other views of the Tribute in light. Good job all. For those not from around here, this is a one night light show which commemorates the loss we all sustained on 9/11. It can be seen over 20 miles away. The lights were placed in a different spot this year about 1/4 mile south of where the Twin Towers originally stood.
From the angle I took this shot the towers would have fallen right in front of the Statue of Liberty not so far to the right.
Be well all and thank you again for the votes and comments.
Michael

I enjoy the positive 'light' you put on its deeper meaning. It made me feel hopeful about the message will will continualllylearn and build from the Twin Towers being missing in those two spots. Since the lights are only lit one evening a year, you sure were at the right place at the right time with the right camera and the right tripod and and and.! Beautiful. |

I love how the blue of the beams and the blue of the Statue compliment each other. This is a great night shot. Beautiful sentiment as well. |

Im guessing but did you not use a tripod? Very noisy which I think takes away from what is a powerful shot. |

oh!!! I am sooo disapointed... the thumbnail is great, image quality is horrid... the concept and everything looks quite perfect... but perhaps you might want to reshoot with lower ISO settings... good try... please dont take me wrong, I really like the photo but you could have done much better

The perspective here seems fairly standard and doesn't really provide a 'dramatic effect' that I can see. Beautiful lights, though. |
