Thanks to everyone who voted. I was at the lake on the University of Florida Campus with my son and there was an alligator hanging out. We snapped this goofy picture and I turned it in for the challenge. Kind of a portrait gone wrong. I did nothing to it as I am new to taking pictures and basically do it for fun. I realized the alligator was out of focus and the ground behind my son was ugly....but we had fun and it turned out to be a cute photo. Thanks again. I had fun entering my first challenge. |

I'll be honest. I don't really like this photo. The alligator kinda looks like a giant turd floating in muddy water and the boy's expression is too contrived. On the plus side the lighting on the boy's face is good. |

ok, you made me laugh right out loud! With a little more post processing (dodge and burn, little more contrast, tweak Hue/sat) this would be a contender. I wonder what that floating lump is - maybe could crop that out? 6 |

Great expression! Background is distracting though IMHO. |

Thanks! You're photo made me chuckle - something I needed after a long day at work. He looks like a handful. |

Is there something in the water coming after him? I like the focus, but not the composition or background. To me, a portrait is posed and tells the viewer something about the subject. |

I love how the colors in his shirt compliment his hair and eyes. Not crazy about all the background as that tends to make this more a candid or snapshot rather than a portrait. |

OK, I laughed:) I can relate, I shot over 100 of my kids and did not use any of them. |

you met the challenge on demand. I think a portrait should express personality to be exceptional, and you did just that. Good job. |

The fun shots of shooting kids are great!! On the down side, my eye was immediately attracted to the object on the top left, and I find I keep looking a it instead of the boy. I find the portrait much more pleasing with the top of the mage cropped to remove the distractions along the top. JMO |
