 A group of musicians were playing at the Temple of Heaven as I was leaving, and this guy (as far as I could tell) was really good.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a 'portrait' really but I haven't entered a challenge in a while, and I like the picture. I'm afraid, though, that its a little too 'dirty' looking.

Fill Light and Highlight Contrast both to 100
Shadow Contrast to 35
Saturation to 4
Sharpness to 50
In PS:
Levels: Right slider brought in a little bit on all channels
Brightness/Contrast: Contrast +10 Bright -5
Rotate/Crop
Gaussian Blur: .2
Cloned out a yellow distraction on left side
Dodged/Burned/Cloned skin to fix highlights
Burned Edges to bring eyes into frame
Also had to do a slight perspective/skew to get the red verticle line completly verticle.

*** Critique Club ***

First Impression: Well balanced, good capture of the musician's expression, good skin tone and good overall contrast.

Composition: The person is positioned well within the frame though due to the length of the flute the crop may be just slightly too tight on the left.

Exposure: Seems bang on as the skin tone seems right and the colours appear natural.

Impact: I can almost hear the music.

Distraction: Red wall on the left.

Overall this image is well done and with some minor adjustments to the composition could be made better.

Keep shooting.

Really nice capture, normally I would think the background was too much, but in this case I feel the colors and textures blend to enhance the overall photo. 10

This looks like a picture by someone in my favourites list! Exposure, colour, contrast is very good. You have captured the expression and the mood perfectly. I hope this does well!

Nice shot, just a couple of things... the different colored background distracts a bit and having the eyes closed also seems to take away from the impact. I know this is a candid portrait, but just a couple thoughts. Maybe changing the angle a bit could change what is in the background or shooting in sequence mode would help capture the eyes open.
