| Not sure if anyone knows what the world of dance is like for these young dancers. It is worse than any public school out there. Girls can be so mean to others and as a dancer trying to move up in different levels is challenge not only physically but mentally as well. This little one is an amazing dancer and performer. Taking this picture was easy because she was her amazing self, modeling in front of the camera as usual. Not all pictures need to be of a child smiling or running around playing. I take those all to often..it is these shots that bring pictures to life....for me that is.... |

| Wow! I didn't get to vote on all entries, but this one would have gotten a definite 10 from me. I love how pure and innocent the girl is, contrasting to the dark and graingy surroundings. She looks like a little China doll! Keeping the leaves in the foreground is a nice touch too. Excellent!!! You should definitely put this on DPCPrints. |

I commented this 2 times already, I came back to this image over and over, and it's amazing I can't help one more :)). It's like I don't even know if you neatimaged it or not, some makeup is there too, but you mastered it so well that despite it's softness every single little detail is there and not melt like in the overneatimaged miages DPC seems to love so much.
It's just beautiful, the colors the expression, marvellous, everything, a masterpiece. Add to that your daughter is a little beauty.
I'd add this in my favorites 10 times. I'm so happy when somethin like this wins.

Yeah I don't typical care for this either but it definitely gives it a unique look. It does look better on females, IMO. Anyway, like what everyone else has said, it's a fantastic photo.

I am pretty lucky to have 2 lovely girls to pose for me..without them I wouldn't have got this I am sure. They do get tired of me shooting pictures of them, but they love to see the outcome. Kev, I used a process to lighten the middle and darken the edges slightly to make the young girl stand out. Didn't really do much else to the shot. I did crop it and probably wouldn't have changed a thing even after the comments. I like it just the way it is. I wanted the background to help tell the story. I do have a shot in the gallery that was messed with, but thought it would do to well.
Thanks to that special friend of mine who helped me choose this one. :-)) (hug)

Sonja,
You have a great composition here. It's just far enough off-center but not at a thirds line. It makes nice use of placement to weight the image a little without overbalancing it. The lightness of the patina balances out the colors of her outfit. I love how it looks like you have a vignette here, too. Did you apply a vignette or is that done with lighting at the time of shooting? Your skin treatment is fantastic as well. I love the slight softening of the skin that I'm perceiving; its serves to reinforce how the color interacts on her skin. The makeup stands out on her cheeks and lips and it leads me to feel that she's prepared to perform on the outside which contrasts with the look and the pose which looks like she wants anything but a performance. This is a wonderful submission to me since it seems timeless. It looks like you captured not just a set of blue pixels (which shows you that several of your peers like this) but it looks like you captured an ethos of lonliness or introspection or some other feeling to which many people can relate. Great job and congrats on that ribbon.

| I adore this shot, it's one of my favorites in the challenge, and even more so now that I am back to look at it again, and comment. Her outfit goes so well with the overall color tone of the rest of the photo, and yet the colors she's wearing are superbly vivid. I love the look on her face, the way her hair is done, the dainty little necklace, just everything. Composition is wonderful too. Great work here! |

| I like this one alot. I like the space around her as opposed to being tightly cropped. I also like the leaves on the ground against the bright flowers of her outfit. I hope this does very well in the challenge - good luck! 10 :-) |

| Beautiful subject. Astounding texture and color contrast composition. Couldve done better with balancing and foregrounding though. I also just noticed that the space around the subject was distractingly dark and unnatural. But nevertheless a job beautifully done. |

| I like this alot. Her placement in the shot is well done. The complimentary colors of her ballet gown against the similar colors of the textured walls adds to the softness of her. I wish I could see her face closer and study the details. The skin seems just a smidge overprocessed although the coloration is nice. I know software such as Neat Image can almost plasticize skin sometimes. The leaves on the ground add a very nice natural sense to it all. Overall - REALLY GOOD. |
