What does a dog do?
Bark.
The fact that the title says departure can be applied to the subject which is both a departure from the tree, and a departure from the strict chalenge definitions. The fact that it does bear some resemblance to a branch helps bring this nicely in line.
Nice detail in the shadows. Colours are a bit drab and that branch above the bark is quite distracting. |

| For such a close textural study, I would have liked to see less details in the background distracting from the main subject. Just the texture of the water maybe? |
