critique club:
initial: a bit dark, but I like the textures.
composition/technical: I like how the front leaf leads in at an angle, and how the leaves seems to direct your attention to the flower... but still my eyes keep going back to the leaf. The detail there is great, and seems in more focus than the bloom. dof is done well, but either the image was initially dark, or it was over post processed and made dark, or underprocessed, and not brightened...
I am being nitpicky here, but that is what I see.
Overall, it is a nice image with limited long term appeal.

| In color this picture would not have been that special. Black and white makes it exceptional. Good job. |

| This looks like a zinnia to me. I am not crazy about b&w flower shots normally, but this one, I do like. The depth of field works well to emphasize the flower, but still retains a good range of tones that are a perfect background for "framing" the flower. I am not crazy about the border, though I honestly can't say what I would have done differently. |

| Looks a bit grainy and pixelated, but the flower makes a striking line through the image. Good composition. |

| Decent lighting and detail. The composition leans a little heavy on the centeredness (for a lack of a better work) for my tastes. |

| seems a little unbalanced, the lwaves on the bottom are so much bigger than the bloom, but still a good pic 7 |

| Phenomenal image... this flower is just beautiful in black and white... the lighting on the blossom and the shadows created by it create the perfect amount of contrast, and create a nice resting place for my eye in this image... The depth of field is shallow enough to make this flower stand out nicely against the background as well.... great work :) = 10 |
