I want to thank you all for the nice comments, They are all very encouraging. As I said this was my first submission and I guess i have a ways to go. Next time I'll give it a bit more thought.
FYI this is a 1978 MG Midget painted Pagent Blue. I mounted my tripod behind the seat and used the timer so that I could have my hands in view. I agree I shot the picture at too high a speed, It proablly would have looked better had I shown motion. I didn't want to go too far with my camera exposed like it was.
BTW this is my wife's car, it's a bit too small for me (I'm 6') but its still a hoot to drive!!

Thanks again.

nice car.

AN MG! WOW!

My dad restores MGs as his hobby, so the last 15 years of my life have been rich with conversations about different attributes of the different years. I drove a white 1980 for a while, until the engine caught fire one time too often... Needless to say, I feel a real connection to your photo!

Well done, but it doesn't grab me.

A passenger would have made the picture more balanced for me, but then you would have had three people in a two-seater (at least all of the MG's I've ever seen were two seaters). I like the bright blue.

Neat that you got the man's reflection in the rear view mirror. If it had a bit of white, I'd say "got milk?"
06/13/2002 05:42:00 PM
nice 'stache, bro
06/13/2002 11:05:00 AM
Is this car actually moving? if so, the fast shutter speed didn't allow any motion blur to enter into the image... i think a little motion blur in a shot like this would add a nice effect :)
06/13/2002 08:43:00 AM
nice moustache
06/13/2002 06:27:00 AM
hey that's some moustache! ok shot, although subject matter is a bit static (ie not particularly interesting).
06/12/2002 07:54:00 PM
Well-composed!
06/12/2002 09:24:00 AM
Nice perspective and color. I think I would have rather seen the driver̢۪s eyes though.
06/12/2002 07:31:00 AM
hmm..the shot has potential, i would've moved the rear view to give the driver more of a myster look. seeing his mouth removes that mystery. A little more of the inside/console would've been cool too. and motion blur would've be superb.
06/12/2002 05:19:00 AM
It's kind of strange how the rearview mirror is so focused on his moustache.
06/11/2002 10:19:00 PM
I'm too short to have ever seen this particular perspective...
06/11/2002 05:31:00 PM
lacks creativity needs more scenery or more scenic road.
06/11/2002 01:15:00 PM
I want that car! Good clean image and nice crop. Though not the most interesting background, the direction of the road works very well. Good job!
06/11/2002 11:44:00 AM
Extra points for driving a British classic. Pity we can't see more of the car though.
06/11/2002 07:21:00 AM
cool car. neat color. pretty neat pic
06/11/2002 06:02:00 AM
This is a good idea. A slower shutter speed would give the impression of motion, if you have that capabillity, and maybe raising the rear view mirror to show the reflection of the driver's eyes? Just a thought. Good clarity. Makes me want to jump in and go for the ride, too!

I happen to love MG's. Definately fits the challenge. Cropping it closer to the windshield might have added to the feeling of motion, since houses etc are not really the subject they are just a distration.
06/10/2002 09:24:00 PM
I like the reflection in the front mirror.
But the sky blue colour of the car seems
distracting me from focusing on the whole photo.
06/10/2002 05:34:00 PM
not bad but I like red MG's better
06/10/2002 01:14:00 PM
Great color, clean, crisp shot.
06/10/2002 10:28:00 AM
Where is the strap for that rollerskate?
06/10/2002 08:39:00 AM
The rearview mirror is a distraction. In the movies they remove them so they won't distract from the scene.

My dad owns an MG this picture makes me want to learn stick so I can drive it.
