The depth of field adds just a bit of interest to this shot. Other than that, I think more attention needs to be paid to some of the other elements. The lighting is rather harsh with the shadow. If possible, bouncing the flash might work better for lighting. I think paying a little more attention to the background might make it look a little less like a quick snapshot. The wall and baseboard, alongside the darkness of the floor, really don't showcase the subject very well. Little things, like the design on the socks, can detract from the attention you want on your subject. Again, just my .02, but I do hope you find it somewhat helpful.

Don't care for the way the pink shoes are posed. They look dirty so I will assume they are the old one? Socks are a bit annoying. Overall idea was good.

Too much shadows. Using flash for this kind of shot creates a lot of those.

This is too much of a snapshot. I would have chosen a different background , used more than the on camera flash to even out the lighting and eliminate the harsh background shadow from the leg, and probably remove the leg all together, and just have the two pair of shoes instead. Then you can focus more on technical lighting and placement of the shoes.

I wish the "old" were more in focus. Also, i wish the socks were less distracting.

I totally love this. I like how you have the old in the background.. But I think if you had low rise socks or plain white socks it would have been better..
