Greetings from the Critique Club
Hi Judi!
Nice shot! I love the contrasts in this photo except one place - the beads that come down are grey. You've got great whites, good blacks and then these greys hanging around - it sort of tones down the "high contrast"
In portraits, I always try to get the eyes in focus. I get "soft focus" but in an advanced editing challenge, you could easily bring the eyes back in focus with the history brush or by using layers.
OOH, know what would really make this shot pop out? Unsharpmask settings of 20, 40, 0. Just try that. :D I see it! :) This is a great shot and with a 6, hopefully you're happy!
happy shooting

Yes, you are partly right. This is a second take on my series that I did on Usefilm on January 6, 2005!! I liked it back then and decided to follow the same line for this challenge.
As for the name...I don't know what you are talking about. As far as I remember I haven't used that name before. Please explain.

Nice closeup and riveting eyes. For me...the softness of the photo makes this just a little less of a high contrast than some of my favorites in this challenge, but a really nice photo. |

You might have darkened the dark areas even more. Also, I don't think the soft focus works well here. It's a rather intense image, and the soft focus makes it lose some impact. 6. |

Great contrast. The eyes are so amazing. |

Just a little bit more whitespace to the right would make this a very very good shot IMHO. It is very nice anyway. |

a little more contrast and it would have been perfect... :) |

Beautiful, but that centre bead is just a little too bright. |

Great picture, but there is too much midtone for this to be a true high contrast (check the histogram). I'll give you a neutral 5. |

Nice model and good use of the contrast, but the eyes really lack sharpness. I like the soft effect on the head jewlery, but not on the eyes. 6. |
