Somehow the lack of motion detracts.... perhaps if you had shown the ants fighting back (climbing on the shoe),,,

Looks to me as if a lot (of ants) would escape between the ridges on the sole!
difficult lighting with strong areas means the toecap disappears.

Funny idea. The lighting is good, and the colors are fine. Can't really think of anything you'd need to change about this picture. (Did you step on ants?)

I wish the ants were a bit more in focus. It's hard to make out the details of them and almost appears to be just a big brown stain.
