Greetings from the Critique Club!
Congrats on your second-highest placed image!
This is a well-deserved upper-5 shot. I personally gave it a 6 and I remember voting on this image. What struck me as very cool was the reddish-brown muted background behind the flower. I know it's a little weird to like a background better than the focal point in a still life but, hey, I was never known to be sane.
The flower itself is very beautiful and I feel that you have picked an appropriate angle on the flower. However there are a couple things that I feel do not work great. First off, I think that a little more breathing room on all sides of the photo is a good idea. The cropping, whether in- or out-of-camera seems al ittle bit tight and on such an airy and free image, I feel like the flower is being constricted. Secondly, the lighting seems a little harsh and unpleasant.
I agree that the water droplets add another dimension to the photo, as they always do, but yet I feel that the greenish reflections in them are a little bit unpleasing as well.
Besides some minor setbacks -- this is definitely an image to be proud of!

Pretty pinks...very "sweet"...I'm not sure about the cropping, I keep wanting to see either a tighter crop or a "looser" crop...a tighter crop might be interesting because the flower would take on a more abstract appearance...but a looser crop, with more of the deep burgundy background surrounding the flower showing, that dahlia would just LEAP off the "page" so to speak...pink can be such a powerful color. |

Ummm... not to sure about your spelling, may want to check that one. I love the image though and the water droplets make it. I'm so so fussy on the spelling, but others may be. - 8 |

I looks like a mum to me, but what do I know? The water droplets add interest to the photo. Good color and contrast. It reminds me of one of my first digital photos that I hung up in my cube and got complements on, so I'm biased.
I like the lighting (brighter at bottom right, darker at upper left) I hope this places high. |

Very lovely flower shot, shame that one of the petals are cut off but that is just a minor thing. I like the the bright flower against the dark background and the waterdrops really add to it. Good job! |
