 This shot was an eight-minute exposure. The camera was "piggybacked" on a pier-mounted 12" SCT (Meade LX200) at the Yanna Research Station south of Madison, WI.

This is soooo special, not everyone can get this shot, it's sooo unfair , NOT. Beautiful work, if their weren't people like you who go that extra step to capture something as fine as this the rest of us would be missing out on so much. Thank you.

Not sure your title is long enough...but I would be interested in seeing your desciption of the set up and shot infor as well. Fascinating image! Billions and Billions of stars....sure do miss Sagan. Good luck!

While this is extremely impressive in what you've accomplished, it really isn't all that "pretty" to me. And I must confess... going thru the images in this challenge, I think I've been voting on beauty more than technique. Just thought I'd explain why I voted a low score. (still gave it a 4 because I felt it at least met the challenge even though I don't care for it)

Later thought: I wonder if this image actually looks better "full size" than it does down in these cramped dimensions?

Probably should have rotated it so that the presumptive "north" was up. Lots of stars, eh? We'll nail this slumping mount problem this coming weekend.
