A nice shot here. What a beautiful location. The mountains do make a great backdrop, and the stream has a really nice curve and leads the eye into the photo nicely. A very nice composition. I have to agree, that little bit of water in the corner kind of throws things off just a little. Looks like in your edit, you maybe selected the water and worked on it? The water looks nice, but it seems that you can see the edges of the selection. Maybe try playing with the feathering of your selection tool. You said you were conveniently close to this location? I think this would be great to do a 'study' of so to speak. Go and take the same shot at different times under different lighting conditions. Could make a great tool to learn how different times of day, different light, exactly how it affects the scene. I also agree, might make for a good b/w too! Great eye though, it is a very nice shot. :-) And man, it sure does smell good!!!

This one is really nice. Love the blue tone to the water and the colors throughout the picture are really nice.

Ok I went and looked at your original, at least I think it was your original. I like your edit better. The way you got the icy blue to the water reminds me of the high Sierra's. I like it.

This is great. I'm finally getting comments!! Thanks and would you comment on some of my other shots? I'm sort of excited by this inflow of critiques. I hope I'm not pushing it. If I am, blame it on IVO. Hehehehe

I understand what you are trying to accomplish with the watercolor thing but for me the green trees just don't work. The blurry tops look more like a mistake (of course this is just my opinion). And now for my second part. I don't mind the still water because the stream is obviously flowing away from us and that is basically the calm before the storm, but they are probably right that the pic would be stronger without that section. Beautiful location and a very nice shot - I too would like to see the original.

It's a little on the small size to get a sense of how good the detail might be. I like the composition, although I agree about the still water in the one corner. The stream with the mountain as a backdrop is really nice. I think it's an interesting photo. I'd be interested in seeing the original as well.

Excellent question. The water was still and there was no whitewater. I guess I should have thrown a rock into the pool. Just kidding. Damn, now I'm fixating on it and I guess I should have cropped it tighter. Thanks!

What happened to the water in the lower right. The rest of the river is whitewater, and this doesn't have any texture at all. Could you just crop that out? Otherwise, it's a great picture. Good work.
