I've looked at this image about a thousand times.. (not quite that much but alot) and each time I pass it when browsing the site.. for whatever reason.. IT ALWAYS makes me pause... I think its become my All time favorite on the site so far... Its such a strong, powerful image. One to be proud of on so many levels being your daughter and for getting such a perfect capture :) congrats.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a very striking image with a very strong "impact", with equal contributions from the subject's intense gaze and the photo capture and production. I think you've chosen the correct composition here: the centric subject works best here. On the other hand the background on the viewers right isn't really contributing to the photo--it might even be considered distracting. You could play with some crops on the right, which may or may not improve this already fine shot.

I agree with dahkota, this was totally underrated in my opinion. Very powerful image & a perfect title to go with the feeling it portrays..I personally gave it a ten

totally underrated. This was in my top 5. Much more personality in this image than Manny's, but his has a generic voter appeal with a recognized style. Such is life.

this shot is very grainy and the highlights on the face are very blown out and the darks of his shoulders and his eyes are way to dark, watch how you are converting this to b and w and watch your lighting to begin with

Excellent lighting. The eyes are perfect. Composition/crop, POV, DOF all right on. Tones excellent. Title fits. 10 - Good luck in the challenge!

Despondent & Looking might have been a stronger title. The composition seems to over-emphasize the hat.

Cool idea. He looks convincingly dangerous and little. I would have liked to have seen the back light be a little less intense so as not to blow some of the hightlights and maybe bring out a few more of the details in the face. Still a great job!

I really like this image...the high contrast, even the blown highlights, and the shadow across his face...they add to the emotive quaility. Well captured. 10 :)
