Hello fellow KCer, I figured I would tread through your shots and leave a few comments... love your work. I love the idea that you crouched in the sand to capture this lowly crabs death... and here we are analyzing it! Great stuff. |

A nice angle and good use of DOF here. 7 |

This is a great candidate for a duotone, no matter what the challenge. I think it really adds a lot to the mood of the image which is cold, morbid, and sad also. The sand appearing black is really showing some great texture as well. The shallow DOF is very good as selling this pic and also removing anything unsightly from focused view. Well done! |

This is a National Geographic shot if I've ever seen one. Great use of DOF. 9 -danny |

I like this a great deal. I could only wish that the DOF was deep enough to keep the front claws in focus. 7 Jak |

I'm not sure how I feel about your subject matter, but the lighting, angle, and colour are good. The crab stands out against the sand (dirt? hard to tell in B&W), good contrast against it. |

Very stark, both photographically and emotinally. I like the high contrast. |

Tells the story of the cycle of the shore well. Rachel Carson (author of "Silent Spring" would have loved your photo. |

Composition is wonderful. I love how you did not include all of the foreground crab and how others can be seen in the distance. What a sad sight! |

beautiful work... this has some emotional appeal as well... the contrast and general tonal range of this image is perfect... black sand.... that really sets off the dead crab.... hawaii maybe?... great work... = 10 |
