beautiful, the low lighting adds to the mood of the photograph

It was me in the tub with duckies....

My fiance took that one!
08/29/2005 08:20:34 AM
Seriously underrated! Nice lighting and shadow, not to mention the surprise as I thought that it was you in the tub with the rubber duckies. Sorry.... I gave you an eight on this one. PM me if you ever want to shoot in Hartford.

With her thoughtful expression and vulnerable pose, your excellent image had potential to be one of the best of the challenge, but I just couldn't get over the flatness of the image. I would like to see this image post challenge with more contrast. Good work.

I like the model's pose and the background. I also like the softness and close tone qualities, although I wonder what this would look like with a bit more contrast?

Needs much more contrast

What a classic looking shot. Subtle soft tones. nice job!

Kind of a cool shot. The folds in the blankets almost give the illusion of it being her hair that is very long and wrapping around her. Nice softness to the image that I like a lot.

Really love the light, lowkey photo with a lot of emotions. Great work, good luck ! 9

Perhaps a bit too dark. The model's form is almost lost in the background, especially along the left side. A touch more contrast might have helped.

nice composition but you just dont have the exposure right here to make this into a contendor. Might be worth trying to adjust the levels and turning this into a very contrasty "arty" finished product.

Makes me feel like its a dreamy setting. The pose makes me feel like she is in pain but that could just be the orientation of it. I would have brightened it just a tad. (8)

Nice perspective, beautiful pose. I like the subtle lighting.

To me, she looks more like she's cold or has a stomach ache. Doesn't look like she's longing for his presence, not to me anyway. The lighting is a little too dull, composition and orientation a bit strange. I give you a six.

At first I wasn't sure about this shot but the more I look at it the more I like it's subtle elegance! You have just enough detail to make it work. Kudos from me. I have a feeling though that you aren't getting the score that I feel it deserves!

Nice composition, but in need of contrast.

Excellent use of low key tonal approach, both for modesty and mood. You have achieved a velvet smooth feel to the image that is perfect for your title and, presumably, is exactly what you were intending. Nice work. 8

Needs just a bit more light to bring out the form. Maybe some from the center at the bottom of the frame.

I like the color of this photo. It fits the mood. I like the pose too, although her legs do not look very comfy.

This is really nice but just a little too dark for my tastes. The model is beautiful and has a beautiful figure but you have to work too hard to see that. I love the pose, and the angles work really well. The expression is really convery the emotion of longing. Writing this long comment has allowed me to really examine the picture and I really like it. 9

This is a picture I would like to score very high. I like how her hair becomes the blanket surrounding her and how the blanket is arranged on the right. Her pose seems awkward however and the lighting makes everything seem dull. I think the photographer was going for a low key shot but, personally, would like more contrast overall.

I wish the lighting had been better here. The pose looks great but it's so dark, it doesn't give the viewer enough to keep them enthralled.

nice lighting. the positioning of the model looks uncomfortable. I feel her discomfort in looking at this.

This is really gorgeous, but the contrast seems too low.

great shot. The low contrast increases the sensation of emptyness suggested by the title. 9

The lighting in this photo is very flat. It needs a lot more contrast, not sure if this was caused by post processing or what. The pose is a little awkward also. Perhaps a crop to the right side might make the blanket a less of a distraction.

I think the lighting is excellent, as well as the overall darkness of the shot. I like pose, the expression, and the crop. Nicely done.

I would have like this better if the models legs were not in that position.

You've created nice emotion here. The soft lighting and the folds in the blanket mirroring her body make this special. Only one small suggestion - her feet seem brighter than the rest of her body, you might darken them a little. 10

I like low contrast, but this is a little too much. Is she upright? Is she lying on a bed? I know it's the latter, but it's hard to tell.

again, too dark. i understand, but..

this is a lovely image but I fear for me loses it because of the low contrast, a highr contrast and a little diffusion would be better IMO 8

the pose is nice and i like that the lines of the blanket follow the same curves as the models side. lighting, like many of the images in this challenge, could use some work...

I'm not sure this is my laptop monitor or not, though, it's been calibrated so I doubt it, but it's just a bit dark of a shot. I llove the composition, including the pose, and expression, but I'm missing the hair of the model, as well as the left edge looks over-burnt to lose the edge a bit more. with a bit more site prep, and a bit more light, this could have been scored alot higher by me

This is beautiful, but dark. I guess that is what you wanted to create, but I find myself straining to see the image.

I feel the lighting is a bit "mucky". I would have gone for either high key or low key...this is sort of middle...grayish. Nice pose and beautiful model.

imo the lighting is a bit too dim and the fabric ripples being just on the right causes a slight imbalance.

In my opinion, this photo is too dark.

I like this shot overall, but with a few minor tweaks, I think it could be superb. I think a wider tonal range on her skin would improve interest. My only other suggestion would be to make full use of the strong diagonal which is already being used. If her head were placed closer to the top right, then her legs could straighten out a little with her toes pointing to the bottom left, which I think would give the shot a more balanced and solid feel.

Lighting isn't the best here, would have liked to see more impact with lighting on the model. I feel it would give this picture more impact.

I like the pose and the softness, but the lighting is a little too dark. Overall a beautiful image though.

I'd love to see a tad more light skimming over her herre and there.
