This is such a nice image. It was a wonderful attempt. It would be interesting to see if your wife would be willing to reshoot so you could see the difference had the focus been on her face. Keep everything else the same, but get her face and eyes.

Interesting angle. Nice soft feel. I'd either loose the border, or black out the area outside the border. Also, would like to see the eyes a bit sharper.

I like the soft feel and smooth skin tones in this shot. The lines of the blanket beneath her are a little distracting though. I wish her eyes were in a little sharper focus, as they can really connect the viewer to the subject. Great border, and black and white looks great here.

The focus here is a little low around her body while it should be on her eyes. Potraits should almost always be focused on the eyes because as humans, that is the first place we look for connection with another person. I like the soft lighting but I really need to see those eyes pop.

The item with the sharpest focus is the blanket. I assume that your title is not referring to the cloth, so replacing it with less distracting fabric &/or altering the focus would improve the image. I don't care for the border.

In my opinion (even in nude shots) you need to have the eyes of a portrait in focus for it to work, especially with your shallow depth of field here. Try this shot again after the challenge with the same DOF and focus on the eyes, I'm sure you'll end up with a much better final shot.

it would have been nice to have at least one area in sharper focus.

Very unique take on the subject but I wish you would have started the focus point on her face and worked down. The result would have been better (9)

Good perspective.... focus is too soft on her face, though. If her face were sharp, you would be drawn through the photo and along her body. Right now, the focus is her chest and you are just kind of thrown there.

Good lighting and angle. The blanket is very distracting.

I think the the area of focus would have been better on her lovely soulful face. I like the point of view. The blanket is a bit of a distraction.

would've preferred to see the face in focus

A little less soft focus, and just a bit of lipstick to make her lips show up. Good shot.

It's a shame your focus is on her breasts rather than her face. Then again, so is mine! hehe....well done!

in my opinion...the point of focus should have been on the face....a kind of top-down approach

not a flattering photo at all4

Pretty lady. Possibly you were going for soft focus. Would have been so much better if her eyes were clear with catchlights in them to show more life.

Focus on her face looks a little soft, but overall nice shot.

face is a more important object to have focus on than are breasts

this would be a beautiful image if she was in focus. unfortunetly, the focus was put on the wrong spot.

Lovely angle, and brave woman to pose. I thihnk that the focus point is a bit off as her face is a bit out of focus. This as well as the border is mildly distracging going through her forehead. Good Luck.

Interesting POV. Wish her face was also in focus. Composition good. 6 - good luck in the challenge!

With the eyes so prominent and drawing, I feel they really need to be much sharper. With a wide enoug appeture (low F) and zoom the rest of the image would have remained soft in focus. I do like the angle, pose and expression though. 6.

In this shot I really need the eyes (or at least the closest eye) in focus. Also the background and border are distracting. Nice pose and angle though.

It looks like the focus is a little deep for me, I'd like to se it on the face. Nice perspective on an interesting angle. The lighting is good, as is the crop. I'm not too sure about the blanket, I don't think it's needed. Good job and good luck.

I'm not sure where the camera decided was the point of focus, looks like the blanket is the most in focus thing.

This is an interesting photo from an interestng angle.
I am not sure I like the out of focus face. I think it would have been better to make the face sharp, and throw the rest out of focus.
Lighting is very good.

The lighting seems a little harsh and her expression looks more like are you done yet rather than enjoying the photo session
08/22/2005 06:12:56 PM
Only thing that I don't like about this is that her face looks out of focus. I like the pose, and I like the little hint of a smile on her face.

08/22/2005 05:31:42 PM
The face is too blurry and the image as a whole could use more contrast

I like the pose of this photo, but there is no focus that I can see. I want to wish you good luck.

the title is too sweet. :) and the over-all softness and her erxpression seem to add to the intimacy. i like it a lot.
08/22/2005 12:02:20 PM
The over=exposure and placement of lights flattens her face and chest. And I would have preferred the face in better focus.

i can see a lot of love went into this photo. I do believe you needed a depper deph of field, as the focus is just a tiny bit too soft.

In general I like the soft feel of this shot. Just wish the face was a bit more in focus.

Her face is out of focus. Border takes away from the photo as well.

I wish this were sharply focused. The blanket with the stripes is a bit distracting as well. I'd up the sharp and the contrast. The eye looking down is an idea that would work.

this is gorgeous- I just wish it wasn't off focus on her eyes/face. also I might have swept the hair off her shoulder to get that 'line' to make it aound & keep the eye moving.

A proof that not only anoretic girls or motel tipe of wimen can make good nude photos. Probably that's why everyone loves Butero sculptures and paintings. Just a shame that her face isn't in focus. But a good photo.

The eyes really need to be sharper. The fact that they aren't causes my eyes to bounce back and forth.

A bit too blurry on the face and the crop is way too tight for me, but a valiant effort.

The focus in a portait should almost always be on the eyes. I think that would have helped this.

i think focussing on the face would have been a lot more effective than on the rug on the floor.

Soft tones work well here, only thing I don't like about this shot is that the model's face seems abit out of focus.
