Challenge: Rain (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL Macro Super for Nikon
Location: My garage and backyard
Date: Aug 13, 2005
Aperture: 4
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/20
Galleries: Floral
Date Uploaded: Aug 14, 2005

I took the opportunity of the first rainstorm since the challenge started. My mom posed for me.
I messed with the contrast of the foreground, color curves in the background. Some spot saturation and cloning to remove a couple of really distracting background elements.
The rain is visible but not as much as I would have liked.

great rain trails here and i like the anxious-feeling this image conveys :) 6

The lighting on the gardener is nice but the photo seems to lack an overall sharpness.

Lovely idea, lovingly captured. There are technically better photographs in the challenge, but none that are more thoughtful and elegant than this. Terrific composition, too. And a great title. 8

If rain drops were clearly visible I would have given this a higher score. I'd like this image better if there was a clear subject; as it is my attention is divided between the silhouette of the woman, the portion of the garden which is in sharp focus, and the flowers, bird feeder and trellis, which seem to be the most interesting thing in the image.

Nice idea. Not very flattering angle for the model. Would like to see a little more of the facial expression. Nice colors though.

The red of the flowers and the hummingbird feeder gives a nice sense of color to the shot. Overall, I think a slightly sharper focus would have helped make this a truly effective shot.

I like the black space behind the woman, I think this shot would be much more attractive to me with a pan to the left to increase the negative space. Maybe to get the right side just to the right of the statue.

Would have cropped out the portion of door on the right. Nice take on the challenge.

Love the picture, but you didn't capture rain falling. The leaves don't even look wet. Even the lighting appears to be more sunny than cloudy.

a little dark on the left, would have like to seen more detail there.

Great job. The composition is so interesting with the silhouette in front of that gorgeoous garden in the rain!

the reds work well here. i do think a slightly tighter crop on the left side might work better. 6

this is a great take on the challenge. I would think the focus should be on her, since people are very interesting and a blurred garden still communicates "garden", love her darkness vs the light outside, migh turn her head a little so we can see more of her face - just a thought, nice image
