 Setup shot in late day of a crate myrtle branch in bloom. Held a watering can over the branch with my left hand as I balanced a reflector over my flash with my right.

The short streaks (which I wish were a little more prevalent) are due to the shutter speed of 1/200s. I was aiming for more interesting streaking. The flash was set to "second curtain" to help freeze the droplets at the end of their journey.

Post-processing mainyl just curves and levels adjustments. Fairly heavy sharpening (85%,0.6,0) done after resize. Nothing I couldn't have done in an open challenge. No cropping either.

I expect maybe 5.95. That is aiming high for this one, considering the flower has some major motion blur.

Thanks! This confirms my own feelings about the image. I had several other outtakes which were more focused, but this to me spoke more about the feeling of a summer storm and the beauty of a well-lit rainy day.

Very nice composition. Appears over-saturated with blown out highlights though. This may be a result of resizing.

Love the water circles. Color really pops too, but I think it needs just a hair more focus on the flower. Looks like good DOF.

Interesting, this; the bokeh on the raindrops is tremendous, and the blackness of background well done. The composition perhaps demands more detail, more stillness in the flower - and perhaps a calming of the intensity of the colour there - perhaps because I'm not sure. I think this will do well.

The rain drops are nice, but I would have liked to see the flower in better focus. Kind of looks like a colored blob.

The vividness of the flower against the black background sprinkled with those glistening drops is VERY pretty. Upon second review, I'm upping my score to an 8.

you know, tho the image itself isn'y really in focus, it makes a really cool abstract in my opinion. i just love the circles of rain falling, and how some are in focus and others aren't, and the colors of the flower. Very beautiful and serene, good luck :-)

a bit on the abstract side, but i like the colors. maybe a sharper focus on the brightly colored subjects would be better. 6

This is delightful! I love the little bubbles of rain spots everywhere. If you could get the flower to be as intresting, that would be great! Nice work.
