 I grew up on this lake and we used to raise swans in a pen on this little island. The new owners tore that down and have constructed an arching bridge and gazebo that I think looks really nice. I sat inside it during this storm and listened to the rain and it really did sound like music to my ears. (It also reminds me a bit of the scene from the movie.)

I have another version using a watercolor filter to make it look like an impressionist (Monet) painting that I actually like better - but was afraid viewers might think I was trying to create "rain" via the filter (which obviously wasn't the case), so decided on this one instead.

reduced backlighting
increased contrast
color sat
curves
sharpness
layer of gaussian blur for misty glow
layer of flood filter to bump up reflection
layer of negative image on the gazebo to cut the white white paint
layers of selective sharpness & color
smart erase & blending tool to remove bbq grill & some scrub brush
save for web

I like this scene but I wish the crop was higher from the bottom so that the scene wasn't divided in two by the waterline.

maybe just a little too soft for me, but hey, that's just me.
overall it does create a unique glowing effect.

Lovely reflection. Perfect title (I remember the scene in the movie). Lovely softness to it.

I'm reviewing the thumbnails again and this is a stand out. The white of the gazebo against the muted deeper tones is just so strikingly beautiful. The hint of the tree silhouettes in the dark background is a nice touch. Think I'll go sing "Sixteen Going on Seventeen." Thanks for a beautiful image. 9

Beautiful picture. It is the picture that I imagine for a rainning challenge!!.
I like composition as well as light and colors. In the job of suggest some improving I would point that in the water down appears some brightness that maybe could have been avoid with a polaraizing filter. Excellent.
