Remarkable. This looks like it could almost have come from the actual battle. Suggestions: perhaps add some grain, or even make it black and white, to add an even more authentic feeling. 9 |

Fantastic! This is a great picture! The guy holding the flag kind of looks like George W. Bush... |

4 - Ok, I will comment on this one because I really like this shot. But - in my opinion your title does not need anything further than 1942 or 1943. This photo DOES tell a story without the title and a pretty obvious one at that given the flag and uniforms. In my opinion, just the year would actually make this photo stand out more (not JUST because that was part of the Challenge description, but because of what you have captured. Again, only commenting because I think you have done well to capture an era and it looks authentic. A photo of this put into a time capsule for this year, would depict it well for future generations. Just the year, and it would have been possibly an 8, or 7 from me. Just MY 'opinion'. |

The smoke, composition and colour of the flag make for an interesting photo. I like how the flag advances in the frame and the soldiers disappear in the smoke. The patriotism is good. The photo fits nicely in the challenge. |

Great picture. The dust/smoke really help this picture look more authentic and the red flag give the picture a burst of color and really makes it pop. I would assume top 3. |

All the telling elements are present, the top of the standard tells even more then the flag does. It is a bit bright, what doesn't correspond with such a hard battle (where one thinks of dark hard contrast exposures). Nevertheless a great shot, one of three nines in this challenge and therefore a tie for third place imo. |

Great theme going on in your shot. I like the use of fog here, makes me feel like I'm there. Selective destat works well to. Only thing (and this did not affect my vote) is that the flag bearer wouldn't have been carrying a rifle during this battle, at least I don't think he would have been! ;-) Good job and good luck! |
