 I got the idea for this shoot from the reference to the DPC Fanatics chatroom in the challenge details.
The idea was to have few people seated in a space and everyone would be holding a keyboard as
they were communicating in a chatroom on the Internet.

I guess I'm a bit lucky as I have a large photography studio where I work with strobes, huge background and so on. However, I've never ever done any studio work, much less with strobes and also never done any kind of model shots so this wasn't exactly a straightforward shoot for me ... and I had only 10 minutes.
The girls in the photograph are coworkers from work that I managed to convince to model for me for few minutes.
The set was lit with two Bowens Esprit 500 strobes with white umbrellas.

Thanks go to Larus for encouraging me to attempt this, vjoz for very helpful lightning tips and Oskar for suggestions on the color scheme in editing. And of course my dear coworkers for agreeing to model for me and my employer for providing a studio at work!

Editing:
First of all I removed the cords from all of the keyboards. Shadows removed or lessened with the dodge tool, clone-brush and healing brush.
Color scheme achieved by using hue/sat to increase saturation, levels to increase contrast, colorize which was then faded to 50% to get the blue futuristic look and then finally Curves to lighten the image and increase contrast.
Image was sharpened with Smart Sharpener after resize and I spot-edited the girls' faces to minimize flaws which were apparant after sharpening. I also used the dodge tool to minimize shadows in the faces.

Nice high key background. Trying to figure out why one girl is facing a different direction than the others (unless it was just for composition, not the theme). You have a very nice selection of models, there.

what a well conceived idea...thank you, as they are so few and far between. this is a fantastic photo...don't get me wrong...but what would be really killer would be having each model experiencing a different type of emotion based on their fictional discussion...but then again i don't chat much...so maybe everyone has that expression when they im :) for me, nice work nonetheless.
