lisae,
I appreciate you critique, however my wife took 'Cleopatra's Vase' and now I will never hear the end of it. Of course you are right, I will just have to swallow my pride and learn from her. (I have been dabbling into photography for years and she has only been at it for about a month)

don't care for the shadows

I like the arrangement, and the shadow is growing on me. Great curve in those candlesticks. I think a brighter background for more separation between subject and background and define the shadow better would give it more snap.

Nice contrast and focus. Interesting shapes and shadows.

Where's Goldilocks? Nice wood grain, good job capturing the flames...

The light from the candle flames and the shadows of the candle sticks aren't being used effectively in this photo. A good comparison would be with the "Cleopatra's vase" photo in this challenge, where the shadow is used very dramatically. A similar effect would work will with these lovely objects. The work well with black and white, that's for sure.

I really like the shapes and shadows on this photo.. not to mention the nice contrasts :)

I would have like this more had the wall been blinding white and the bottom of the candles just faded into a black top...cool candle sticks too. good job.

Very interseting subject matter

Great lighting, really like the shadow effect. I wonder though if B&W detracted instead of added to this picture.

The lighting is not dramatic enough for the composition.

Neat b&w. Good job.

Nice use of shadow... and curves.

I think the shadows may be a bit distracting. The framing is perfect though.

Too much shadow.

bad shadows on the wall caused by a) on camera flash and b) subject to close to background
