| great composition...awesome lighting. I think you should of cropped a half inch on the right and a half inch off the bottom floor. Good work |

| It's a wonderful piece. It tugs at my emotions. I see a very different metaphor that many others - a life lived with joys and many tears - shown through the worn paint and grime. I see a coming to grip with the past mistakes and a baring of the soul - the light shining in and bringing a hope and honesty to the life. The closet comes through as that last closed place in the heart of regrets/mistakes. It stands ready to be opened - cleaned out and brought to light. In religous terms, I see a metaphor of a repentance in process - a life lived with mistake, hard knocks and a coming forth of honesty. |

| I love photos in old buildings. Sepia is perfect. I love the angular sense. You wonder what lies in the next room. The light and shadow is spectacular. Great great great! |

All sad/bad things have a way out/solution. I am refering to the overall bleakness and depressing atmoshphere of the picture and to the open door leting the outside light in and showing the way out.
A magnificent picture! Goes into my favourites. |

My views, thooughts and feelings....
Within this piece, I feel we view ourselves inside often isolated, torn, and frayed. Yet, if you look closer, there is significance, a purpose and light to our lives. Opening of doors and over abundance of light pouring in signifies hope, freedom and restoration outside our inner selves. The closet is the metaphoric icon of my past and closed. |

What's behind door number Three, Why is it closed? It being closed contrasts so much against the otherwise laid bare house, that it begs this question.
Is that dried blood on the first door ? |

| It's funny...I never see these kind of images as gloomy and lonely...perhaps that comes from living in a very old house, a house built over 200 years ago, and living through it's restoration...not renovation, there's a huge difference, but restoration...yes...that is what these images are about to me...restoration and potential, if only realised...which for many I assume is not an easy thing...we must seek it. There were times when many of the rooms in my past home looked worse than what we see here...but I have a husband who has an affinity for these magnificent old places and finds a great deal of joy in bringing them back to life...it's actually what he does for a living. He sees these homes, as do I, as actually living breathing things...not just some old played out dwelling...they must be loved and cared for, or like people they start to fall apart...to suffer. This image brings about very pleasant memories actually, and also makes me miss my old home very much. |

| This is such a dramatic image. There is a sense of loneliness and negligence that you managed to capture. It seems to me it would be a very nice setup for a scene in a really dramatic film. Nice work. |

| Tonality is very good, but I'm questioning the imbalance that I see heavily weighted to the right, and nothing to counterbalance it on the left. Does not evoke scary feelings in me, possibly because there is so much light, and possibly because of quick egress through the front door. If it evokes any feelings in me is sadness to think of the lives that lived there and of the delapidated condition it is in now. Maybe subconsciously the closet door represents years gone by. I see the visual tension in the image existing between the closet door (past) and the foreground window (Present) which I think you did a good job to emphasize using a wide angle lens. |

| This picture makes me feel empty--and that's perfect! tsheets explained it very well. Looks like my grandparents farmhouse when I go look in there now. There's nothing there, but perhaps the distant echoes of days gone by. |

| craftsmanship from days gone by. The moldings, the doors, locks...and of course the closet, very narrow door and I bet it isnt very big because people didnt have that many clothes in the days that this was built, probably around the early 1900s. Wish I could see the floor clearer. Evokes envy, and sadness that it is no longer wanted. |

| my first thought to the thumbnail was lonely. when i opened it up i got feelings of new beginnings and opportunitys(being as all the doors are open but the last one) wonderful photo...good luck |

| This is exquisite, Dustin! I love the tonal range, the composition, the emotive nature of the shot...wow. Glad to see you posting again, too!!! Congrats and good luck on the juried competition. You should do well, because your work is always top-notch. This one really grabs me. My first reaction is the loneliness of the room, but the open doors and window light show hope that there is something more out there. It's going in my faves right now! :) |
