This is an image of the "Weeping Buddha". I admire the weeping Buddha for it is such a beautiful wood carving. I see a strong handsome man not hesitant to express his emotions. The feeling of warm, perfectly smooth wood like touching a live tree. Like touching a friend's hand. But most of all I like the weeping Buddha's concept: the world is profoundly sad, they say, and someone has to always be weeping for its sorrows, so that you can be joyful.

These are hand carved in Indonesia and brings me good luck everyday. The dark stain you see on the nape is caused by oils in my fingers as I rub it for good luck everytime I leave the house.

The black background gives a lovely contrast to the buddah's vibrant color. Unlike others..I think the color does it justice!

This is a very cool image but might be a little oversaturated.

Color could have been cooler perhaps.

Everytime I think I've come up with a unique subject, someone else does it (and usually much better, as in this case). I have one of these in dark wood, and it's one of my favorite things. My first try didn't come out well and then I went out of town. Glad I didn't submit my image; this would have put it to shame. I like the black background and the composition. PS, trying to remember what these are called. If you know, please tell me.

Is this naturally this orange? It doesn't appear naturally.
