 Shot with two incandescent work lights, left and right oblique (I really need to get some good lights). Slight crop and rotate. Lots of speck, spot, and ding removal. It's an old violin with a lot of dings and I debated on how much "healing" to do with the clone stamp. Levels and hue/sat. Darkened felt background to flat black. Slight USM, resize for web.

Though tuneless, stringless, it lies there in dust,

lighting feels too harsh, the hard lined shadows give me this feeling along with the very strong highlights. Great title,

Really effective use of lighting and isolating the subject from the background. Cropping is very, very tight, but I think it suits this photo very well.
