 Another job for my flip box. This is the tree in front of my house and lucky that a battery of bushes surrounds the entrance, otherwise passerby's will label me weird with a lighting set up on the yard at 10:30 pm. Amazing how light disappears in the dark.

There is no editing on the meeting line of the flip box. This blending effect is obtained in the following manner: a tiny ambient light 15 watts placed about ten feet away will allow the sensor to start recording info(the part of the tree that previously masked) then by the time I position myself and fire the strobe you have a real double exposure with tree and leg and hand. I started with miny light at 3 feet but then I almost looked transparant. To work without the ambient mini light means a sharp division where the flip doors meet.

It gets a little more involved. Why did the double exposure take pace mostly on the meeting line? Simple, the main light was located to render 3/4 of the tree bright and then the light falls off as it rounds the tree. So light is positioned to start fading around tree but my body sticks out and catches the strength of the light.

Dan, I joined this site the day I first found it looking for an image of the Golden Gate Bridge. I saw the value of being associated with it and am pleased to say that I have learned much more about my passion for photography than my 'results' indicate. I shared this site with my family and my great friend C_Steve_G and they have too benefited from their association with DPC. I have an immense appreciation of the knowledge and inspiration many of my favorites add to this site, yet none of them compare to you (as GREAT as many of them are) you are without a doubt my very favorite! From the incredible photography to the thoughtful & provoking comments... I hope one day to meet you... you are inspirational!

the more profound attachement with the trunk is very credible here

Wow, how'd you do that with basic editing?? Very cool. His red shirt is a nice splash of color. That might be a fun one for black and white with a single color sat of the red.

Putting yourself in your pictures is a dead give-a-way, but your photography is so amazing, I think I would know it was yours anyway. This is yet another WOW as you do incredible images and still meeting the rules. I hope you were saved from being eaten by the tree, however, it appears you are already becoming a part of it. 10
