 Bought a bunch of these and a bunch of sunflowers the day before the challenge was out. Thought they both would be good for texture and opted eventually for the globe thistle image because of the colors. Shot in macro mode with a Hoya 10x close up filter.
Post: Open. Crop. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast, hue/saturation. USM. Thought it was a bit to dark so did lighten shadows 10%, darken highlights, 10% and midtone contrasts -10%. Resize. USM.

I like the abundant purple in the background with the plant in a different flowering stage.

Pretty. Nicely composed. Gren and purple are such a nice contrast. Maybe sharpen the green one a touch more.

Very nice! I like the DOF and colors. Seems just a tad dark to me. Perhaps adjusting the shadows/highlights and contrast a little would give it a little more dimension.

I love Globe Thistles the smell is heavenly! .... you shoudl ahve probalby put the on in flower rather than budding in the front
