Tweaked the levels on green channel to lighten melon as I had to under expose it in order to keep the reds from blowing out.

A tad bit of smart sharpening and cropping and resized for the web

The set-up was actually fairly simple. One half of a watermelon was hollowed out and a small hole cut into it. The raspberry was inverted over the hole and a small flash light inside the melon was pointed upwards. I then removed some additional portion of the inside of the rind to fine tune the lighting of the melon in the vicinty of the berry.

Thanks Jutilda and Fetor. I though it would do better as well but I can't complain as it did set a bunch of personal bests for me. I'm guessing some voters marked me down for not meeting their view of the challenge.

I'll post how I created the shot this evening for those of you who would like to know.

yes i agreey with Jutilda, this was a wonderful picture and i would of loved to see it place a lot higher than it did

Clever lighting! although, it does make the color and lighting more the theme of the image, rather than the texture. Still, very pretty.
