** Greetings from the Critique Club **

As you probably will agree, there is a major distraction happening here by the lighting glaring off the metal, and causing the erasers to be too brightly lit. This can be caused by too strong direct lighting hitting the ends on the right here. Might try bouncing the flash off the ceiling or an umbrella to prevent the glare.
This might sound petty, but the "2" on each pencil should be kept in the same orientation on each pencil for better impact - jmho.
Another idea you might toy with is perspective cropping to give a more unique angle to the image.

Hope you find this helpful,
-Linda

Lighting seems a bit harsh on the right, especially on the metal part of the pencils causing the distracting reflection. Perhaps shining the light on the other side would have been more appropriate for these subjects.

I think it would be better if the lighting were more even.

I'm getting quite a glare from the metal tops so lighting could be better. Nice idea - some tattier pencils would have added interest.

Maybe a more natural light would have worked better as the flash bounces off the metal

I wish the metal part were sharper. They are a tad "hot" as well. Maybe tone down the glare on them. The linear quality is interesting.
