This is a Siamang at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA. I walked around the corner and found him (not sure if it's a him or her) sitting restfully in this pose and very well positioned under the natural lighting. He remained in this pose just long enough for me to get a few shots of him.

Post-processing:
- I had to shoot through a glass barrier that was covered with kids' handprints. The resulting photo had a bunch of smudges on it. I touched these up using some cloning, spot healing, burning, and brightness reduction on a few areas.

A little bit of brightness/contrast adjustments could have benefitted this image

OMG what a face! Except for the green blade of grass in front, I love the tones in this image. Very subdued to match the subject. Excellent balance in that respect. While the blade of grass is annoying, I think it helps hold the subject where he is - does that make sense? Love the lighting. 9 - good luck in the challenge!

I find the blade of grass in front very distracting.

This image would be better without the green leaf over the ape, the dark amd light contrast is good, IMO....7

Was this shot through glass? There appears to be almost a film over the whole image. Don't get me wrong - it's a fantastic shot. Beautiful composition and priceless expression. The highlights are a little strong on the wood too. BUT, these are very minor points about a really great capture. 8
