Backstory: I saw this group siting in front of the window to the polar bear's pool. I was looking for any idea to submit for the challenge when I chanced upon them... the kid in green wasn't part of the group. The group was patiently waiting for their dad to take a photo of them with the polar bear behind. The bear of course was not cooperative. Eventually, he got the shot that I also got.

Thanks for the kind words especially for the people who got what this was all about.

Iam really surprised to see this great picture to the challenge get such a rating. This picture really did portray the spirit of the Zoo. A very good work indeed. Hopefully you will have better luck next time. Keep it up.

Great colors. The kids don't see what is behind them and their brother won't tell!! Interesting shot with a story.

returning to bump this one; certainly a different take on At the Zoo but fits the topic well, the kids look like they are squinting which makes me think it is more staged than candid, the suggestion of interaction between the kids and the bear could be stronger, colors are very saturatyed; overall a fine effort that is refreshing for it's originality

Kind of creepy and yet so friendly. I love the idea and it seems to capture "zoo" quite well with children and bear.

This is positively eerie. Odd cropping, oversaturated, who cares? 8 for originality alone. San Diego Zoo?

The humor in this photo is great. I sort of wish the feet were not cut off. And the saturation seems just slightly strong. Finally, I wish the head of the observant fellow in the green were placed a little more in the gap between the tall fellow and the girl in pink. But I realize these are not things over which one has control.

I'm a total sucker for this kind of shot. I might have cropped it a bit tighter. I love the idea of this capture.

What an amazing polar bear shot. I've never seen anything like that -- that showed a polar bear under water like that. Polar bears are my most favorite -- so they always have an emotional edge with me :) Great zoo shot!

This would be an outstanding family portrait. The colors of the kids clothes contrasts nicely with the murky depth of the water and the bear. Very nice. I predict a top 20.

I think the lighting is great. If the polar bear would only just stop moving, it would be perfect.

This would ahve been much better withthe kids looking at the polar bear or somewhere other than appearing to squint into the sun.

Since I am lacking in technical skills, I cannot give helpful comments. I am strictly a photo buff who is trying to improve, but as to telling you what is wrong or right, I am in no position to say. I am simply voting based on whether I like the picture or not. Sorry, maybe someday I will be able to give helpful advice
