When I processed it first I spent about 2 hrs on it. I used Multiply on one layer and did some burning on the bright areas in the background and did selective sharpening too.
I was about to submit that version (after browsing and locating the file), and realized that it was Basic Editing. Did a quick version with what's legal.

Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS
- Cropped
- Converted to monochrome using Hue/Saturation
- Adjusted Levels to bring in darker shades
- Colorized with Hue/Saturation
- 2 layers of Curves to fine tune tonality
- Resampled
- Sharpened

Plenty of attractions here, and although the couple dominated initial moments, I find myself getting drawn to the child and the pram. Lots of grasping going on. I'd have scored this 8 or better. Sorry I was away :(

Not easy ro pull off this image with the excitement of the crowd. Love the flavor it imparts.

This was my favorite shot of the challenge. Nice tone and composition. I also like your title. Very fitting. I gave you a 10.

This is nice photo. I love the black and white. Would not have been the same in color!! GOOD JOB!

I love that there are two distinct stories of independence in this image in the young child and the loved-up couple. Only problem is that there is so much going on in the background that the foreground loses some of it's impact. A really shallow DOF might have made this less of an issue. 7

nice composition...for some reason through all the chaos, the focus remains on the couple kissing.

the high contrast is good, though maybe just a bit too much. it's a nice candid, i especially like the guy in the back with the coffee.

Too much shadow for me, it would be nice to see a wider tonal range.
I wonder if the guy kissing the girl is about to steal her bag?

A tighter crop may have served you better. Great idea but there's too much going on and it takes a while for me to figure out who's the subject.

IS the shot the child of the kissing couple?

I don't know what this is a photo of. From the title I think it'sthe kissing, but visually I'm drawn to the kid. Very visually confusing even without the title.

This is a tricky shot to score in a challenge..I first am drawn to the couple kissing but then my eyes float ove rto the child and parent..an interesting combination, almost like a glimpse into their future..not sure where you see the independence, as the title throws me off..interesting shot nonetheless.

I like the documentary type treatment here.

The fact that the couple is on the left side of the frame makes me assume that there is some importance to seeing the mother and stroler. But I don't think that importance was intended. I think that space could have been used better. In fact, a different title could actually make this photo about the right side of the frame. I don't know if this was set up but I like how the girl is leaning into the guy. I has this classic feel of the strong, verticle man kissing the girl off her feet. The color selection is just right and the contrast is great. Just needs a better crop or better timing.

Love this shot, so much going on. Minor complaint is that it is a tad on the dark side, but otherwise excellent! Doesn't scream independence to me, but then again neither do most of the others - 9
