CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

I love the simplicity of the black and white in this shot. I happen to really like looking at shots using this technique, because i tried it one time and found it exceedingly difficult to get just right. Kudos to you. I like the black strip down the middle, but it appears a little jaggy. I don't think it is digital jaggies, but it looks more like where the strip was cut crooked. To me, this takes away from the "cleanness" of the shot. The vertical framing is nice. It helps to force the eye up and through the glass. Though I understand the comments about more space on either side, I think that would make the entire composition feel centered and static.
I love the etching on the glass, but i am wondering what a closeup/macro of just the "bulb" at the top would have looked like? to me, that is where the "action" seems to be, and I think it would have been neat to have that in a more prominent position in the picture.
very nicely done. If you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to PM me. Best to you in future challenges.

a very beautiful object, and well executed photo (could have been entered into the symmetry challenge). one suggestion is not to have cropped to closely on the side and left more negative space there. |

Nice work the refraction effects on this photo. I didn't see it in the thumb and thought it was just another silly picture of a vase, but I see now that this is one of the best photos i've seen so far. Nice work - 9 |

cool glass, cool stripes, but not pin width, unless the glass is MUCH tinier than it appears in this pic. |

Elegant. Good choice with the background. It adds a lot to the picture. It would help if the white strip was cleanly cut but I'm not sure what you used. - 9 |

Very creative. I love the black and white and your nearly perfect composition. Is the bottom "carpet" a little off? Perhaps if you had cropped off the bottom portion it wouldn't have been quite so noticeable. I like your tight cropping on the sides. |

Very cool effect you were able to capture with the curvature of the glass & the lines. |

Nice job. I wish it were symetrical at the bottom though |

The white stripe seems to be a little off center at the very bottom of the photo. Other than that this is very clean looking. |
