It's nearly a good idea, but just not quite interesting enough for me. It's a good photograph as well, but just a bit lifeless (I don't mean that as a bad joke; I mean that my first reaction is to think about the furniture, rather than the family.) I nevertheless applaud your thinking outside the square. 5
Further explanation: A couple of other entries use shoes and toothbrushes in the same way you've used table places, and I think succeed a bit better because those items are more intimate & personal ... the table setting seems just a little sterile. |

The lighting in this shot seems a little bland. The exposure is right, but everything seems a little too well illuminated and it doesnt give the shot personality. |

What a great table? Which place is mine?
Nice concept. A very nice, creative idea.
Good luck! |

Picture seems a little dark to me, but it's a neat way of portraying family, one that I haven't seen before in this challenge. |

very beautiful table and good still life. hope it does okay for you. Have you tried playing with curves a bit.. you will be surprised how it brings out colors and grain in wood, try it! |

This just doesn't grab me and want me to delve into it. Maybe the busy dish pattern along with the placemats and the wallpaper border is too busy for the eye to really take in. I'm looking for a focal point and I just wander around looking for it. Perhaps solid dishes with a single candle and dark lighting to bring some contrast and depth into view. |

I had a similar idea...I think this would have been much stronger if the food was on the table and steaming. The lighting is a little bright. But well composed and focused. |

Interesting take on the challenge, just doesn't "wow" me. |

Good idea but maybe another angle and another lightning? |

the angle of this shot really does not appeal to me personally - but may to others.
The photo does convey Family though |
