Although not really apealing subject wise to me anyway I still think this was a great shot, DOF and focus were pretty dam good!! And the out of the box idea I think should have scored you higher :)

Okay, this ROCKS! Pretty gross but still an original shot and I can't believe you captured all these guys at once! Leaves me wondering how long you had to wait by a smelly fish to get the shot. Great lighting, like you said a deeper DOF would really bring out more here but overall wonderful photo! |

Oh the smell...make it go away!
Uhhhgg. I have to take this shot in increments. Everything seems to be in order here. DOF is great. Subject matter is definately there. Focus is awesome. I can even see the little fly sucker attached to the fish. The only thing I see wrong with this photo other that the photo itself is the flies eyes. Something is off here and I am sorry I cant put my finger on it. Maybe over sharpened? Would love another opinion from one of the senior members. Maybe they can pick it out. This is technicaly a very good picture. A bit too disturbing for me though. I am just thankful that it's fish and not there favorite food. Keep up the good work. Very nice. No fish tacos for a month though. |

We pretty much have the same camera, only my MP are a bit higher than yours. I'm inspired by your shot and am adding it to my favourites to remind me of what a great image can come out of this camera. Thanks for doing such a great job on this photo and inspiring me to keep trying for shots like this just when I was starting to get down on myself and my camera. Great job! |

Wow! Can't believe this is my highest score yet!
Thanks, everyone for the great comments and votes. They were better than I expected. Comments reflected exactly how I felt about this image. I hoped for more focus and a less busy composition. But of all the shots I took, this was the best. I'll post some outtakes that are even creepier than this one. |

Excellent - really unusual and full of colour and interest, despite a subject that most will find abhorrrent. Never let that put you off, because life is dull without exploring worlds outside of our comfort zone. |

It's gross ... therefore I love it! Actually I like it for other reasons, too. It's very unusual, for one thing. And the family resemblance is striking; all the kids have Dad's eyes. 8 |

Technically, this is a fairly good shot. However, due to the rather unsavory subject matter I rather doubt that it's technical merits will rescue your score. Without the title I'd have had difficulty identifying the textured surface under the flys; an angle which included a fin or some other recognizable feature would have improved the composition (although it might have made the subject more unappealing). |

terribly goss if you think about it and you have an imagination! As far as images go, pretty neat macro. Focus a little soft. Glad I'm not eating right now. Colors good - love the way the eyes stand out. Composition okay. 6 good luck in the challenge! |

LOL - very cruel (I mean cool) idea! j/k Great title! :-)
I really like this. Great DOF on most flies and the fish. The blurriness in the very foreground is a bit distracting, but the colors and background are great. The lighting may be a tad too bright too, but I imagine the sun is quite harsh on the beach. Nice job! |

What a macro. The sea color is almost the same as the thorax of the flies. It's a bit busy, but flies usually are. |

Ewwww. The color is great. Love the concept. Being a newbie myself, is there some way that all of the foreground flies could be in focus? Would have helped for me. |
