Greetings from the Critique Club!

I certainly concur with all of the compliments below!

In this image, I see an engine that through your use of line and light, create a complex, industrial and technical feel. The blue tone adds to this, and adds some mystical mood, too. I really enjoy how so many things sparkle and have appropriate glare, which enhances a kind of magical sensibility. Your clever title is very fitting. This is a unique and original photo that meets the challenge very well.

Technically, I think you've done well with what you were trying to do. The image is true to itself, and the focus, DOF and composition are very appropriate. The lighting is a bit uneven, centering itself in the engine parts at the lower middle. It gets darker as the eye goes up. Even lighting would have, I feel, helped this image slightly. On the other hand, I like the dark edges, as they tend to lead my mind to a sense of mystery and magic, as if there were more to this engine than I can actually see. Someone noted that the image looks tilted, and perhaps "straightening" might have soothed some voters.

In the end, this image is almost an abstract study in light and line and it is very engaging. It's fun to see that you're exploring with mood and light and color--it inspires me to do so, too!

Keep up the good work, Mav! This is good photography.

i really like the switch to blue (is this duotone? I should probably know the answer to that question..), gives the engine a very metallic, industrial feel to it. Seems a little dark near the back, but nothing major. :)

hmmm, looks like your white balace is off, I don't know if that's what you were going for though.

I like the thought you have put into this shot. Its not just a boring snap shot of a car, its something different to every other photo. Color is cool, although a little dark near the top. However its a clear shot, nicely cropped, and borded looks good!

Too much blue and it's tilted way to far to the left.

Feel that the blueness of this shot distracts from what could have been a nice gleaming shot of metal.
