This was a hard challenge for me. This photo isn't exactly what I was going for. Then I worked on a different idea for a couple days and couldn't get what I wanted with it either.

I still like this one, and I got a decent shot of my dog doing what he loves most.

I love this (and I know how hard it was!) tried to teach my dog to fetch something.... by the third toss he just watched it go! Not his game I guess.

thanks for all the comments!

To answer the questions:

1. Yes... he did catch it!
2. I had two photo sessions of about 15-20 tosses each. I took 5-6 shots of each toss. I have a lot of outtakes that show frisbee and grass, dog and grass, and just grass. I got nothing useful out of the second session. the shots were set up by tossing the frisbee near the bottom of an 8' ladder with the camera aimed as close to straight down as possible -- I was trying to get a nice circle from the frisbee rather than an oval.
3. The photo wasn't edited -- levels, saturation, curves, USM. I spent a lot of time trying to un-blow the blown white areas. When the dog is jet-black with bright white highlights -- not to mention the white frisbee, it's kinda tricky.
4. I didn't give him a bone for catching it -- I gave him another toss instead (which he appreciates more than a bone anyway! He pretty much lives to play frisbee)

Regarding the frisbee not being stopped -- I actually experimented with shutter speeds to try and get a little spin-motion of the printing on the frisbee. So the fact that the frisbee is not stopped clearly was an "artistic choice" on my part. I appreciate the comment, but I'm happy with the motion there.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Good stop action on the dogs mouth. These shots are hard to get I'm sure.

Great action shoot - movement is well caught and the placement of the dog and the frisbie are well done. Color could be a bit better but the range a light between the dog and the frisbie was a bit much to get the full effect. Might have been better with a darker frisbie so you didn't have to deal with that.

I find this very effective but the dog seems to be the subject. No way to stop action on the circle.

This is a photo I think could benefit from a wider angle. It's nice to see the detail in the fur and whiskers, but the action could be better portrayed by pulling back a little and showing us the whole dog.
