Critique Club:
EJ, I think the random photo disher outer likes giving me your pics to critique :-) So here goes number three from me.
The first thought that hit me when I looked at this pic is the serenity of the scene. The water is dead flat, no one to be seen anywhere and the sunrise going through its phases in the background.
Contrary to what you wrote in your description I think the sunrise is awesome enough. I think more clouds would only have darkened the image too much and dampened the effect you have captured here. The photo is on the darker side, especially where the boat is concerned but I don't find this a negative point.
It does seem a little tight to me though. I am not sure you had the possibility but I would have tried stepping back a few steps to get more of the boat into the image. You could have also done this by using a landscape format, although I don't think you would have captured the total impact of sky and water with the same effect as you have here.
Congratualtions on another fine photo and am looking forward to seeing (and critiquing) more of your work.

A levels adjust wouldn't have gone astray in this pic, but I love it. Well shot! |

Nice composition, a tad dark?, maybe not. Water like glass, nice. |

Exposure is good. I think the interest in this photo are more the mooring posts than the boat due to their symmetry so to add impact you could try a different vantage point to emphasize this. |

i like the colors in the sky but i think by getting more of the boat in your picture would have created more intrest |

I really like this shot because of the feeling of calmness it gives. The colors are understated and the composition is very good. The only thing I would do is to crop the top of the picutre to near the top of the boat... this seems to give the picture a more balanced feel. |

beautiful scene... the serenity and peacful mood of this image is nicely conveyed by the glasslike water and the cool sunset. In a scene like this, I feel the need to toss a rock in the water... disturb the peace a little... but NOT before I get my photo :)
Great shot... excellent :)

ooooh, lovely colors. I love the beams (poles) they add something tangible to the picture. I don't even mind that it's a bit dark. |
