later - 12/20/2005 - looking at this now, it's easy for me to see why this did so poorly. Aside from not being a macro shot, which I knew at the time I submitted it, the cropping is poor and the processing is coarse.

I was still in the middle of being on a road trip, and couldn't properly devote the time to editing the pictures; I was too busy taking them and doing other things. I shouldn't have submitted this at all.

I have since re-edited this picture, with the hope of redeeming it somewhat and better expressing what I was trying to capture in the first place.

4 - I like the concept. I think it would have been better had it either closer cropping and more detail, or a different angle and more depth.

I'm a little lost on this one, levels aren't quite on, and the subject is very confusing, the eye isn't sure where to go.

This just doesn't have any pizazz for me. I appreciate what you're going for, but maybe something for contrast would have made it more effective.
